The Sunset in Rhode Island

I'm at a paw sox game and I watch the sun go down. The sun turned orange and then a redish color. I don't see the sun do that much down in Florida. I wish I got a picture of it.

The Screen on My Refrigerator Door

Last night I went to get a drink of water and the water comes out of the door on my refrigerator. As I was doing it I looked to the left out side the window and saw the reflection of the screen on the refrigerator. It has a light blue and purple and a cyan color in the reflection it looked pretty cool but I don't understand why it looks like that.

Lights Out Side Lab

Last night before lab I waited out side to get into the building. While I was sitting there I noticed that my shadow had a red out line on my left side and a blue out line on my right side. This thought crossed my mind "What if I had the old 3D glasses and put them on would my shadow look 3D?" It was interesting to see my shadow like that.

Green Laser Being Absorbed

I was shining my laser at white objects in my apartment watching how bright it was. I then decided to point it at dark objects to see how much light gets absorbed and there is a big difference. It goes from a large bright dot to a small dot. If you ever wear a dark colored shirt in the sun and wonder why your so hot well there is your answer dark colors absorb the light while light colors reflect.

Tough Frost

I decided to take rough frost in the swash book and shine my laser through it to see what it would look like and well this is what I got.

Instead of getting a straight beam of light it scattered the beam. It looks pretty cool.

Angle of Refraction

I pointed my laser in my bathroom mirrors to look at the angle of refraction. Its really cool to look at because I can angle it anyway and look at the refraction. I can also see the beam of light so it makes it cooler.

LED and CD

I took my LED light and shined it at a CD i had laying around. The way I got it to reflect was pretty cool. It made a blue ring around the CD and if I tilted it certain ways it would make a little green in the ring also.And the closer and farther I pulled the LED away I could make it a full circle rainbow on the CD. It's pretty cool to see what you can do with LED's and CD's.

Glowing Water Bottle

I took my green laser and pointed it at the top of my water bottle and this is what happens. The water reflects it and it turns green. It also make a reflection on the table. The cap look like a whitish green whereas the the rest of the bottle is a darker green.

Light Threw a Water Bottle

I took a water bottle today and look at the back of my apartments outside. And I noticed that everything is upside down. I figure that is has something to do with the light because when you go to the zoo and look at the penguins under water they aren't upside down unless they are swimming upside down.

The Moon

Tonight the was a full moon and it looked big. But the thing that caught my attention was that it wasn't its normal white. It was a yellowish/ orange color. Its doesn't happen that often but i just think its cool to see the moon a different color.

Starring at Light too Long

In lab I sat on the stage and my classmates focused the lights on me so the instructor could show us cool things with light. So as I'm sitting there looking at the lights I look away to talk to a friend and all I see is a blue dot as there head and a red ring around that. But I could see like the sides and there was no blue dot with a red ring. It was only when I focused on something like to read something or a picture I would be able to see it right.

Video Cameras and Lights

In lab we messed around with light settings for a "live show". We put different colored lights up and videoed it with a video camera to see what it would look like on television. When we did so the lights didn't look anything like it did live. So we had to change the setting on the video camera to to make it look good on television. It was a great lab and I learned new stuff about light.

Different Shadows in Lab

So tonight in lab I sat on the stage while my classmate pointed lights and a camera at me. When I lifted my hand i had three different shadows. One was red, the dark shadow, and yellow. It was pretty interesting to see my shadow like that.

Reflection of a CD

 

When I saw this I knew I had to take a picture of it. It's just light reflecting off a CD but it looks so cool. On the top its purple turning into blue. Ont the bottom you can see cyan to green, green to yellow, yellow to orange, orange to red. It really cool to see this on a CD.

Laser off my kitchen floor

I decided to shine my laser light at the floor of my kitchen to see what kind of reflection it would make and well this is the reflection that it makes. It bounces off the floor and hits the wall and look like this.

Florescent, Sunlight, and Candelight

 Out of all three of these the candlelight make the yellow look darker, while the florescent and sunlight look similar. In the sunlight picture you can tell that the top of the hat is a dark blue. But florescent light makes it look black. Its crazy how different lights can make things look different.

Laser Through Water

I decided to fill up a cup of water and and shine my laser light threw it to see the line of light. I discovered that there are purplish rings at the bottom of the cup. I thought that was interesting because I'm using a green light to shine through the cup. And the cup is sitting on my computer so it should be silver not purple.

Looking at the Sky Threw Gel

I decided that it would be cool to put different colored gels in front of my camera and well yeah I was right. The different colors came out really good. Its also a good way to make your pictures different colors. The purple color came out the best. You can really see the definition in the clouds where as the blue isn't as clear as the orange and purple.

Glow of Fire

You know how when a fire it goes out it the coals stay orange? Well I realized that when you have a light on a dimmer and dim the light out the coils inside the like kinda look like the orange coals. I just thought that was interesting. Oh and when the coals are glowing orange like that it the best time for making smores too.

LED vs. Incandescence

Last night in lab we took a gel and shined a LED and an incandescence light threw it. Looking at the two lights I noticed that the LED light changed the color and the incandescence light keep the color the way it was suppose to look. LED lights are sorta blueish and that is why it changed the color of the gel.

Green Laser

 

I was bored and decided that I should play with my green laser pointer. So I pointed it at my kitchen light to see what it looks like. And well yeah this is what it looks like. I like how it reflects off the shield thing that covers the florescent lights. It creates this interesting design. And its sweet!

Rainbow in your eye

Have you ever opened your eyes underwater when you were swimming as a child? I use to do it all the time because I never had goggles. When I was done swimming and looked at a light or something with light shining off of it I would see the light but all around it I would see this circular rainbow and wondered how I could see it and no one else could. It was pretty cool until I scared myself and thought that I was going blind.

The Sky

As I'm sitting out on my porch relaxing I stare out into the dark rain clouds and realize that it still kind of light out. At about 8:30 theres still enough light to play catch or do something outside. Its amazing how light can get threw the dark rain clouds.

Lightning

As I'm sitting around in my apartment a thunderstorm rolls around. So I decide to sit in front of my window and watch the lightning. I notice that with some strikes it looks a little purple, but most of them looked white. It was most definitely interesting to watch the lightning.

Candle Light

Have you ever just stared at a candle to watch it burn? Well I have call me weird but weird things catch my interest. While staring at the flame burning I watched as it moved. I moved it to a dark room to see how much of the room it could light. It was as bright as a night light was when I was a little kid.

Sunlight Through the Clouds

I took this picture from Google images but I've seen the sun do this before. It caught my attention because the sun makes a ray of light. Whenever I see this I think to myself wondering "If I was close enough to this could it cut my arm off?" Obviously not because its just the sun. The way the sun is shining through the clouds is interesting. This ray of light is all natural unlike lights that use different colors to make a ray of light during a concert of some kind. Its just a pretty neat light to look at and think about.

Sunglasses

The way the light reflects off the sunglasses sitting on my table is interesting. It's like looking at a small picture on the sunglasses. The way the sunglasses are facing I can see through the blinds and see the dark clouds that are passing by. The light being reflected off the sunglasses is just as bright as looking out the window.

My Blinds

Today when I came home from class I messed with my blinds to watch the light come in my apartment. I noticed that when I turn the blinds one way the light slips through the blinds, but when I turn the blinds the other way light come through only the top, bottoms, and the sides. I have now turned all the blinds in my apartment all the same way to make less light come through.
